Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 review: Not good enough for the price

Microsoft Surface Laptop 5: Two-minute review

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 is an average laptop… possibly as mid-range as it gets. While it’s technically functional and not awful, there’s very little going for this machine, especially at this price point. The market is simply too competitive for a mediocre option like this to be worth buying.

At first glance, the price isn’t too steep, with the cheapest configuration being $999 / £999 / AU$1,699. But that’s for an Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, which is pretty bad. For that amount, you could get the far superior MacBook Air M1 (2020) instead, or even the recent macbook air m2🇧🇷 If you want something decent – like an i7, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD – be prepared to spend around $1,700 / £1,700 / AU$2,700, which is fair for Ultrabook prices. At least it’s readily available in the US, UK and Australia.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet review: Ambitious, bold, and buggy

In the middle of a town square, a fierce Pokémon battle breaks out. In the foodie paradise of the city of Medali, filled with restaurants, a young trainer is trying to earn the right to face the leader of the local gym. With a stoic expression, his Hariyama unleashes a flurry of punches at his hated rival, bringing the enemy’s hit points into the red. It’s a dramatic battle, but the young coach is determined to win.

Then, right at the decisive moment, an aimless local wanders into the battle. All the tension in the scene is dissipated by his curiously warm smile and relaxed demeanor. The ease of his walk and the soft gleam in his eyes suggest a man at ease with himself. Perhaps this man – let’s call him Phil – is on his way to buy groceries or maybe just taking a leisurely walk around town.

Paralyzed by his constant confidence, I watch Phil walk from one end of the screen to the other, the ongoing pocket monster contest completely forgotten as his smooth wandering unfolds. Phil might be having a good day, but he’s ruined Pokemon.

Building on the open-world stages made in Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Legends Arceus, the world in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the most ambitious yet. Filled with places to explore and Pokemon to catch, you can take a non-linear approach to its main story, which developer Game Freak has broken into three main quest chains.

Revisão do XPPen Artist 15.6 Pro

Vivo’s new cell phone is the first to use the super-powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

If you’re looking for a new phone and your focus is on power, then the recently announced Vivo X90 Pro Plus might be the handset for you, as it’s the first phone to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

This flagship chipset is expected to power many of 2023’s flagship Android phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 and OnePlus 11, but Vivo seems to have gotten there first.

Graphics card sales plummet – but there are good reasons why

Graphics card sales are in a big slump, at least according to the latest numbers from an analytics firm that regularly tracks the world of GPUs.

The headline statistics for the third quarter of 2022 from Jon Peddie Research (opens in new tab) (JPR) provide a pretty miserable preview, with sales of both integrated (in processors) and discrete (standalone) GPUs falling to 75.5 million units. This represents a 25.1% drop compared to the same quarter a year ago (and is a 10.5% drop when compared to the prior quarter of this year, Q2 2022).

Editor’s Note: November 2022

This month we’ve added in a portable blender from ShakeSphere. It’s a great option if you’re always on the go and need a quick smoothie whilst you’re out the house.

With the talk of Black Friday deals starting to become a reality we’re going to start to see some deals spring up. The best blender are a quick and relatively easy way to eat healthily on a budget. By having one in the kitchen, you are just one step away from making a super delicious soup or nutrition-packed smoothie. You’ll just need to wash and chop the ingredients before tossing them in the blender.

You won’t be limited to just blending. Blenders are versatile counter-top appliances that can also be transformed into the best juicers, best food processors, and so much more. That means there won’t be the need to go out and buy yet more products to get your fill.

Netflix’s Kaleidoscope is an ambitious TV experiment that will thrill fans by storm

Netflix loves a good experience – and the streaming giant’s upcoming TV test is unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Titled Kaleidoscope, Netflix’s upcoming show is being billed as a crime anthology series – but with a compelling twist. The series, which premieres January 1, 2023, is presented in a non-linear format, with viewers watching the eight episodes of Kaleidoscope in a different order than their family and friends. No two viewing experiences will ever be the same, creating an air of mystery around the heist and leading to countless watercooler-style arguments between you and your fellow Netflix subscribers.
