Apex Legends Mobile was released just a few months ago and is already gearing up to launch the next season. The second season of the battle royale game titled Distortion is also bringing new additional content to the game. This includes a new legend as well. Season 2 of Apex Legends Mobile will launch on July 12 on iOS and Android devices.
The trailer for the next season was released yesterday on the game’s YouTube channel. It reveals some upcoming content that will be released in the upcoming update. The most interesting thing is that the company is again introducing a new legend to the mobile platform.
Currently, iPadOS users will see a major 3.7GB update already rolling out to the App Store.
Introducing the Rhapsody
Apex Legends Mobile will feature Rhapsody, a DJ from the fictional town of Neon Dunes, in the district of Kómma. While there isn’t much information about the city, the character’s voiceover doesn’t reveal much about her backstory. However, there is a separation report (opens in new tab) which talks about the character’s mother working for Pythas Incorporated. She ends up struggling financially after being fired for discovering company secrets.
As Rhapsody grew up and discovered her love of music, she became one of the most famous DJs in the district. She also pays off most of the family’s debt by participating in the Apex Games.
Rhapsody and Rowdy Abilities
While there is more information needed about the abilities Rhapsody has, we can see his trusted speaker/robot Rowdy. Designed by Rhapsody’s mother (in keeping with tradition), it’s a companion robot like Lifeline’s DOC health drone.
The trailer reveals that the ‘smart speaker’ can block an opponent’s view by creating a large holographic shield. We also got a glimpse of one of the finishers the character has. Knocking out a fallen legend with loud music from Rowdy.
Pythas Block 0
Apex Legends Mobile will also add a new map. It’s unclear if the map will only be part of the battle royale mode or if it’s a Team Deathmatch map. Pythas Block 0 will showcase Rhapsody’s house, filled with neon lights and displays. A resemblance to the futuristic city of Cyberpunk as well.
